Culture

These lively, vibrant cities have so much to offer and we want you to take advantage of your time in Paris, Rabat, and Dakar! Thoughtfully-planned events and excursions allow you to experience activities and locales with the camaraderie of your peers. Walking tours and/or bus tours of each city will provide perspective and orientation of your new environment. Each semester will offer students access to the traditional and the avant-garde in local culture. Cooking classes, Slam concerts, modern circus, traditional ballet, boats, markets, music and drums will delight the senses and deepen your understanding of the multi-faceted composition of each country through its culture.

Cultural Events

Nine cultural events, three in each host city. For example:

  • Paris: theater, circus or dance; museums galore
  • Rabat: navigating the souks, traditional music and performances
  • Dakar: drum lessons, dance, and concerts

Day Trips

Three one-day trips, one in each host city:

  • Paris: Versailles (fall) or Giverny (spring)
  • Rabat: Casablanca
  • Dakar: Goree Island

Weekend Excursions

Three weekend excursions, one in each host city:

  • Paris: St. Malo & Mont St. Michel
  • Rabat: Meknes & Fez
  • Dakar: Sine Saloum Delta
