Adapting to a new style of teaching in a foreign language can be challenging. A range of dedicated academic and language support is built in so you can leave Dakar feeling confident and successful both in French and your courses

Customized Language Support

  • Students will meet each week with a with a teaching assistant targeting specific areas of improvement in both oral and written French expression.
  • Weekly conversational Wolof classes will meet for students not enrolled in the Intensive Wolof for Beginners course

Academic Support

  • Methodology sessions integrated into each course
  • Course-specific tutoring hours
  • Proofreading sessions

Pre-Departure Support

  • Passport application assistance
  • Visa application assistance (if necessary)
  • Pre-departure orientation
  • Finance and scholarship support
  • Departure preparations: vaccinations, cell phones, insurance, prescription medication, and more

On-Site Support

  • Airport pickup on May 27
  • Outside-of-the-classroom assistance: Help securing a Senegalese cell phone and/or SIM card, finding a doctor, navigating the markets
