Housing in Dakar

Experience authentic Senegalese hospitality by staying with a local host family and immersing yourself in the culture during your summer program.

Immerse yourself in Senegalese culture by staying with a local family, where you’ll experience true teranga—Senegal’s renowned hospitality. Sharing meals like tieboudienne and engaging in daily life with your host family offers a unique way to connect with locals and truly understand the culture.

Before arrival, students complete a housing questionnaire, and our team carefully matches each student with the right family. All host families speak French, and students are placed with one family to ensure an authentic experience.

You’ll have a private bedroom with linens, access to shared spaces, daily breakfast and dinner, and weekly laundry service. Many students are invited to family events such as weddings, learn the basics of Wolof, and even become part of their host family’s extended network of cousins and aunts. With most families located just a short 15-minute walk from school in the beautiful Point E neighborhoods, it’s an easy and vibrant setting for your summer adventure.
