For nearly twenty years, APA has welcomed students who are taking a gap year, transitioning between schools, or stepping away from college for a semester. We recognize that this period is different for every student. Some want to strengthen their French, others want to explore a possible field of study, and many are looking for meaningful independence within a supportive international environment. Rather than requiring every participant to follow one preset gap-year curriculum, APA works individually with each student to identify the best fit among our current programs. Depending on academic interests, French level, preferred destination, and length of stay, students may join:
• APA’s semester program in Paris
• The Multi-Country program in France, Morocco, and Senegal
• APA’s semester program in Dakar
• A shorter Paris option lasting just under 90 days
In Paris, students may choose from APA’s in-house courses and French language offerings. When appropriate, they may also be guided toward courses in the French university system or visual, studio, and performing arts classes. (Some specialized arts courses require additional fees.) Students with a B2 level of French or above may be considered for the Multi-Country program, while Dakar offers options in both French and English across business, leadership, social sciences, communications, and STEM.
