For many, heading to a new continent to live can seem overwhelming. After all, you’re entering into a strange new culture and living situation while taking on academically rigorous courses, and in a second language too. At APA, our specialty is helping you be confident, fully prepared and ready to go.

As soon as you arrive in Paris, we start you off with a flexible orientation period in which we provide you with all the info you need to integrate easily into French life and feel comfortably settled in your new environment. During this period, you’ll take a language evaluation and take part in a series of workshops designed to help you adapt well to your new environment.

Additionally, we’ll immediately help you get set up with a mobile phone plan and help with all administration procedures including applying for your residency card if needed (“carte de séjour”) and enrolling you in all your courses.

Course Selection

Our passion is listening to you and helping you design a fully personalized experience. You’ll have a chance to meet individually with the program director or assistant director who will work closely with you to choose the courses best adapted to your needs and language proficiency, and to make sure each course is fully approved by your U.S. university.

We have also adopted the American course shopping system so you can take up to 10 classes the first week of university. At the end of the week, you can keep the four classes you like the most!

“The APA team is small but incredibly knowledgeable and efficient. They always had an immediate answer for my questions and were eager to get to know us and help us out at every turn.”

Nina, Colorado College, Year 2003-2004
