Présentation

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS ABROAD (A.P.A.) is an independent organization chartered in the state of Delaware. It is an educational service that works closely with American universities and provides students with the opportunity to live and study in France for an academic year or semester.

The uniqueness of A.P.A. is that it offers American students the opportunity to discover a new culture by immersing themselves in French academic, cultural and social life. We believe that it is only through immersion, however surprising and difficult it may sometimes be, that they will be able to master the language.

The program has been specifically designed for American students to experience complete integration into French academic life by helping them better understand and appreciate the differences between the French and the American educational systems and between American and French cultures.

The criteria for acceptance into our programs, as well as the academic guidelines, have been determined with the assistance of an Advisory Committee.

Our office & Classrooms

APA's office in Paris

A.P.A. facilities are located in the south of Paris, in a charming little street, the villa d'Alésia, lined with artists' studios, private homes with gardens, two minutes away from a very busy shopping area. The Latin Quarter and Montparnasse are only 10 minutes away by subway. One room is reserved for students to meet informally, to work or to relax. It is equipped with reference books. In another room seven computers with windows, USB ports, and wifi (wireless internet access) are available for student use.

Our French civilization course "La France d'Aujourd'hui", our APA Art History course "XIXth Century French Painting and Sculpture" (Fall semester), "XXth Century French Painting and Sculpture" (Spring semester), as well as some cours complémentaires are held at the CRDP in the heart of Saint Germain des Près, a most exceptional area, 5 minutes away from the Seine, Le Pont des Arts, Le Louvre...

ADMISSION – REQUIREMENTS :

The equivalent of two years of college French and a GPA of at least 3.0 are minimum requirements for acceptance into courses taught exclusively in French. A.P.A. may contact the student's last French instructor for additional information about the student's ability.
